Teleporting nowhere

2020. Scientists were able to create a teleportation system for the people. You are now able to travel from somewhere to another in just a wink of an eye. The only limit is that they couldn’t manage to do it for more than 1 km. They are still working on it. For now it works as a transportation system. It’s like the subway. There are these stations where they can teleport you to the next station safely. It works with one person in every capsule. 2 people can’t share the same capsule. Terrible things would happen, like mixing particles but it was proved that this system works.

Jonathan left his house this morning like any other day. He went to the teleport station near his house; it was uncommonly crowded. He asked a security guard what just happened and he told him that they had a few problems with a capsule some minutes ago but nothing to worry about. It was working fine now.

With his black suit, Jonathan came in a capsule to head his office. Something went wrong and he didn’t appear on the next station like he should. Instead, he appeared in some kind of military base. “What the hell has just happened?” he wondered. He was alone. He came into the capsule again and pushed the button. He now appeared in another teleport station but this time it was in Tokyo, Japan. He got scared and came into the capsule one more time and pushed the button again. He appeared in a palace with a lot of paintings in the walls. He got curious about this place and started to look around. He heard some people speaking German in the next room and quietly got close to it. Luckily though, he was familiar with the language because he studied it for a semester.

He found out that some scientists in China had discovered the key in the teleportation system that could teleport you anywhere you want. Germans wanted this secret at all cost and were capable of starting a nuclear war for this.

Knowing this, Jonathan went back to the capsule but this time it didn’t work. Jonathan tried like 3 times until he could be teleported to another place. This time it was the white house and as soon as he appeared, some security guards and secret service agents pointed him with a gun: “Freeze!” they said. Jonathan was speechless. He said that it was a mistake and that he didn’t know how he got there. 2 agents grabbed him and took him to the president who was in a meeting. From the outside Jonathan could hear that Americans also wanted the secret of teleportation at all costs. Jonathan realized he was in big troubles. He might have been the first one in being teleported so far from home and didn’t know how the hell this happened. He thought in warning Chinese scientists before it was too late but he couldn’t escape from the agents.

After some minutes waiting for the president, Jonathan came up with and idea to accomplish what he believed was his mission: stop world war III. He took one agent’s gun and pointed to his head. With this hostage, he managed to get to the capsule. He pushed the button and appeared in India. He pushed it again and appeared in France. The 6th time he appeared in what it looked like China. He searched for some people but there was nobody around. All of a sudden he heard a big boom and got scared and went back to the capsule. The place in which he appeared was like nothing he saw before: it was emptiness. After a while trying to be teleported again, he got the conclusion that there was no place to travel because the earth no longer existed.
